dave robinson
Hey I had a thought. Maybe we should rename the Klave in memory of the recently departed Griz. How about the "Smoked-he-the-bear Klave"? Or how about "Ichy and Firey's Ursa Departus Klave"? Or the "Bear-ly Held Klave"? Perhaps we can raise a glass to griz and thereby have a double toasted bear.
Michael Dell
I have a commitment on Saturday that I cannot get out of, so I will miss out on the camping. Instead I will come Sunday morning and catch fish while some of you sleep off the effects of the night before. Michael

I'll be heading home at noon to finish loading, then give the lawn a quick mow. I'll call Ballast about 2pm to make sure he's ready We'll hit the grocery store on the way out of town to fill the cooler. BTW: Add Ballast (aka Alex Del Hiero) to the attendee list. Too True, One tip for "new fathers" Book at least one long trip annually at the same time, no wife no kids. Mine starts this Friday Destination Buck nowhere, Duration 5 Days, Equipment required; Truck, Belly Boat, Fly rod, Fly tying kit. This is gonna be the longest 4 days in a while though. One the plus side my 3 year old caught his first fish last week!!!
Pierre
Congrats DT on your son's first fish. It will be a few years before my little girl can toss flies. Good luck on your trip. I will try on Father's Day to fish some lakes in the forgotten hills. Tight Lines Pierre
RangerBob
Just got back, and finishing up unpacking now. Will crack a beer and unload the memory cards - I FIRST gotta get some wicked Northern Lights photos into NASA Spaceweather that happened this morning. More trip and stumble reports to trickle in later this evening I'm sure. PS - The stocking truck arrived on Friday! RangerBob
The Northern Lights Fly Tyers & Fishers... are in their element! Ranger Bob poses on the dock at Dolberg at 3:30 AM today (sooo tired). Snapshot taken by Yo Alex Ballast -- and RB photo enhanced to tease out all the hidden details. That red dot on the horizon is Jupiter slipping behind the trees. RangerBob
RB's Trip Report (Longish... parts remembered): Scratch, Hep_Cat and I hooked up on Thursday about 5:00 PM at "Suicide Hill" sign. Strapped down the PT boat, and buzzed on up to Barrhead. From the Co-op gas bar we picked up Dave and Alex on the FRS 3/0 station. Leaving them behind to enjoy their dinner we flew on through to Dolberg. We secured the last three sites at the campground. Thursday night, RB pumped up "Red Dwarf" and made dinner while HepCat and Scratch went out on the water with HMSC Dynamatie and the Nebercanesut (sic, ala Matrix ship) to catch the evening hatch. Dave and Yo Ballast Alex were also on the water in the Chiquitta bannananananana. Towards evening the boys paddled back into shore when Alex said... Yo Scratch... cast there... and he did. Bang... Scratch landed a nuhice fish right from the dock.
RangerBob
After much thrashing.. the fish was finally landed. It was a pretty good start to the weekend.

RangerBob
This gentleman also caught three nice big ones off the dock while we were there too.
RangerBob
At this point everyone wandered back to campsite for some soda pops. Ranger Bob went out to show Yo Alex Ballast how to shoot the Night Sky with his Canon 300D. We didn't get to bed until uhhm... 4:30 AM. The moon was coming up anyways. (The Milky Way.. and our campsite/fire. Yay.. the summer triangle is almost overhead!)
