Tys Flies
Sorry boys but Im going to say it and stand behind it firmly with all the repercussions and slander that will be tossed my way; Canadian beer is horrible. Have yourselves a Merry Xmas, Drink lots but do it Responsibly, Cheers and Best Wishes, TF
Joe Hard
Keith's... followed by Big Rock. Alexander Keiths, those who like it like it alot.I visit the Brewery often it is one cool place.I find that Keiths tastes too good and can drink them like water. See the guy on the right, thats what happens or this I drink Olands because it has a stronger taste, and I drink them a BIT slower.I have never heard of Big Rock is an ale or a lauger? pacres
Big rock is the beer of choice. Magpie being the favorite of all time. Sleamans Cream ale is a good one to. I'm surprised you didn't mention the pink elephant beer RB.
dave robinson
"Dissertation Dave" here. Although why RB calls me that... Might as well earn the nickname eh Canadian Beer - Ty, do you mean that processed horse peethat the majors market under names like Blue and I Am...? If so, then I agree. however, for micro and mid sized breweries...For JH - Big Rock is a mid sized brewery located primarily in Alberta. while they say they distribute across Canada (except Que.),unless you find an adventurous supplier, it will be rare outside Alberta. They make several different products such asGrasshopper (a wheat beer)Warthog ( a cream ale)Traditional - a medium dark ale (my favorite). and a few others. Check out their web page at http://www.bigrockbeer.com/Another great Alberta Brew or two come out of the Alley Kat micro brewery.their web page is http://www.alleykatbeer.com/Products are hard to find even here in Edmonton, but you can get it at the actual brewery on 99 street. My fav is Alley Kat Amber. Now another way to go is to brew your own. I use Austrailian kits from Morgansthe best being a doctored Blue Mountain Lager.Their kits are foolproof if you watch your hygeneand the result is cheaper than any commercial product.Cheers Edited December 20, 2004 by dave robinson

Tys Flies
follow it up with a good gin or burbonOr follw it up with this little diddy, "one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer", lol. Im with you SH, the more you mix the better drinking becomes, we should get together sometime. DR, I stand corrected those Canadian Beers or donkey piss is what I was referring too, oh and they are so much better warm I don't mind BigRock but I might have to venture out and attempt this AlleyKat you speak of, although I am still an import snob. But then again when your already have sloshed if it fits in a mug or even if it doesnt they all become the same, lol, AMEN to that. TF
Terry H
Although I enjoy imports, there are lots of great beers brewed in Canada. One of my favourite brands, which unfortunately is hard to find in Alberta, is Mount Begbey out of Revelstoke. http://www.mt-begbie.com/ Their Begbie Cream Ale and Tall Timber Ale are great . dave robinson
New Zealand Beer eh? The kiwis used to say only three things in life were worth anything. Rugby, Racing and Beer. Sad to say that in the last few years its gone downhll a bit Horse racing, while still very popular has lost a bit of its shine In rugby, first the Aussies and then the Brits gave them a whacking and now, the anti drunk driving programs are slowing down beer sales. Almost makes a guy want to go fishing! Did try a few pints there though. Many are NZ based products of Oz companies Amstel and Steinlager to name a couple. As with Canada, the general run of pilsners from the majors are similarly processed horse pee. You need to find the micro breweries to get good stuff. They have a great mnid sized breweriy in Greymouth. The parent company tried to move production to their big facility in Auckland. Can you spell customer revolt! Kiwis threatend to boycot all the parent company's products. Within two weeks the Greymuth brewerey was given a new lease on life. And the parent company learned a quick lesson in who is right at the beer counter. Best beer I had there was from a teeny brewery just north of New Plymouth Mikes Beer. Produced in Mikes barn just off the highway, drawn from the vat by Mike hisself and sold in 2 liter plastic botles. Great medium dark beer! TimD
Probably the two best tasting beers out there are Lucky and Black Label, but neither are popular because the are relatively inexpensive and do not spend a lot of money on the advertising. I picked up a six of Lucky the other day and it was half the price of Bavaria. Guys, spending $12 a dozen more than Lucky will not get you one of those Brazilian girls doing tricks on the beach. I would love to see a blind taste test with my beers up against those spensive ones. Cheers, Tim
