fthillsfisher 1
Just learned a few days ago that no charges have yet to be laid in regards to the obed mine spill. Is TUC putting any presssure on the government to have charges laid, and put the streams back to their original state ?
PeterSL 183
Jack Imhof, TUC's Director of Conservation Ecology, tells me that TUC has been following and reporting on both the Obed and the Polley Mine spills, that the Province and Federal Governments are waiting on final reports on the scope and scale of the issues of the Obed Mine, and that TUC is in the process of pushing both for action. Much of the information is available at http://esrd.alberta.ca/focus/obed-mountain-mine-release.aspxThis has been described by Dr. Mark Poesch as "the worst environmental disaster nobody has heard of" in Canada. It's possible that no amount of restoration work will restore the areas affected any time soon. Peter
