Muir On Father's Day

Spent Sunday morning of Father's day with Ross at Muir. Surprisingly quiet for a weekend, Only 3 float tubes and 2 boats at the south end all morning. The first hour we had two hits on chronnies but no solid hookups. Then nada for an hour. Saw a few #14 tan caddis around, but no rises so we did some trolling. We landed 6 fish on my cull du canard caddis emerger, which looks a bit like a small Spratley when wet. An hour or so later it went quiet again and we packed it in cause we both had family stuff for dinner. The fish were all between 14" dn 18" but fat, in good condition and feisty. Lots of birds around, red winged blackbirds, seveal terns, one loon family wth 2 babies, one heron, one pelican, numerous geese includng one group with 4 adults and 20 goslings and (a first for me at Muri) a swift. Great day out for a couple of dads.
