DennisS Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 It's been a bit queit on the sight so lets see if we can get a spirited discussion on if you could only use 2 hooks for your tying what would they be and why. There's no right or wrong answer with this questions. Just interested in hearing others thoughts on this subject. Mine would be a light wired scud (model 1130 daiichi) you could tie almost all your flies on this one. Drys, Nymphs, Choriadamids(spelling), could even do extended bodies. If desperate you could likely do streamers like a clouser if needed. Of late I've started to also have a lot of uses for the new Daiichi Klinkhamer hook. I've even done soft hackles with this hook. Bigger sizes 8's stones and hoppers can be done. Tight Lines AlwaysDennis S Quote
johnk Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 For me, Dennis, it would be 1760's and 1120's. Heavy wire hooks for me. Straightened out a 3xl 200R on a hog last year just east of the Alberta border. Quote
woolly Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Probably a mustad 94833, a dry fly hook but could be used as nymph, or wet with a little added weight , and a mustad 9874 3x long streamer hook Quote
flyfish Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Used a mustard 94840 for dries and a 3906B for wets, but after looking at all Dennis's new patterns, i think he is on to somethiing with those Klinkhammer hooks. They are very versitile and can be used for almost anything. Cheers Roy.. Quote
DennisS Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 Like I said there is no right or wrong answer. I can see merits to all the choices. Don and John's all gear to the type of fishing their doing. Both Roy and Dave are traditional type tyers and like the old stand by's the Mustad family. Roy thank you for the vote of confedance. I have to do what I've said I would do is actually post a couple of those patterns. Tight Lines AlwaysDennis S Quote
