I'm thinking of taking the wife and kids to the south Ram River for three days. Do some fishing and exploring. Just need a little advise.

Is Ram Falls Prov. Rec. Area the place to camp? Is this at the top of the canyon or the bottom. And lastly, is it better fishing above the canyon or below? I've never been there so I have no idea if these questions are stupid or not

Any help would be great (and any secret James Bond information about the SR would be awesome as well  )

Cheers!

Have fished above the falls years ago and caught my first cut, we were on horsebackand went up the south ram, very nice scenery and could be very tough getting across the river without horsy. I've been told that the bigger fish are down stream but here again very tough to get at ( lotsa walking) , friends would get there from the south side and the road is near Peppers lake (which I heard was slow)

There is Humingbird and Onion creeks above the Ram falls and the provincial camp ,that have cuts in also but not sure how river flow is or how there biten . Horse back riding up the rivers is fun and you can take your fishin gear with you. (last time, 5 odd yrs ago it was $30.00 and up for the day (11 am to 6 pm ) Heard the north Ram was high and slow. GOOD LUCK and HAPPY FISHIN :fishing::clap:

hi Doc the camp ground is above the canyon. You can get down but it is work. I stopped there is yr just for a look and if you go down the stairs to the look out climb over the fence there you will bet down. I've heard some good size cutts caught just by the falls. I like dan have fished bits and pieces up stream. I have done Hummingbird and Onion lots of little cutts 12inches is big. As Dan says give Elk a try some nice Browns here also rummor has it good sizes bulls. Also give the Elk creek trout pond a shot as there are some nice rainbows in there. Peppers lake is good but will need a belly boat or equivalent. Nice area hope you have a good time let us know.

Thanks for all the info guys, much appreciated. Not sure if I can go now as my wife may not be able to take time off work but I'm gonna try like hell. If not I'll be on the NSR Monday night.

Cheers!
