tuber
I recently acquired an old shaving brush, that was made sometime in the 1950's. I'm trying to figure out what fly pattern is in the handle. Any ideas?
Garhan
I believe that was one version of the Black Gnat. We used to purchase them at the A & N Boutique tied like that. It isnt true to the original pattern, looks like the North Americanized version. But that is what I recall on the sleeves. Don't quote me….lol. If you google this and look at the images there is often Red in the tail of both the dry and wets.

dave robinson
Yep, it's the venerable black gnat. Used to come snelled on a cardboard card. The cards were 4 to 6 on a sheet with perforations between the strips. I'll have to look in my Dad's old stuff to see one is still there.
