5 Sept -- Planning For Red Deer Area

I've just been given leave to go fishing this coming Monday. I figure I'll head down to the Caroline area and maybe try the North Ram. I'm willing to discuss arrangements to bring someone along...especially if they are familiar with the area, as I am not. The basic plan would be to leave St. Albert around 0430, and leave Caroline area around 1430.

I might be interested Quentin. I have never been to North Ram but would like to give it a try. I am in Edmonton. Let me know if you want someone to hang with that day. I do not have a lot of experience but am learning and will not bother you.

Well, it seems that I don't know how to catch fish in Alberta. Pretty much skunked again today. Stauffer Creek is pretty, and seemed to be running very low. There were a few spots that were all but bogged with plants. We only saw a few, very small rises.

We also tried the Red Deer River, above the Dam/lake. It's pretty...except for the motorboats running up and down it.

I'd like to try again someday, particularly if someone's interested in showing me what I'm doing wrong!

What you're doing wrong is picking some very difficult water to fish.

Stauffer particularly is a tough stream.

I've seen lots of fish there, but all going away at high speed.

You should have tried the red deer below the dam.

Only the odd water craft to contend with.

We'll have to introduce you to Arctic Grayling

I'l be away unitl the end of September, but after that, Ill be interested in getting as many trips in as possible befroe the grayling season closes Oct 31

Keep in touch and by all means come out to the meetings starting September 14th
