kemo99
Cabela's new store will be opening in Edmonton in August. As part of the grand opening events, Cabela's has asked us to provide support or demonstrations for fly casting to be held outdoors at their new store. We need a few volunteers to help with fly casting demonstrations outdoors and promote our club at the new store between 11:00 and 3:00 on August 4 through August 7. Let us know here which shifts you are available to work. ken

jfisherman
Ken, Greg here, I will be able do any or all of those shifts even though my casting leaves an awful lot to be desired but I can help out with the tying. Where is the store located?

RangerBob
Didn't make the Grand Opening, but thanks for the invite. Stopped by today just to visit with Jack Dennis for a bit. I will try to venture back there sometime when it's not quite the gong show that it was today. I hate crowds.
DennisS
I would like to thank all the people that volunteered with the casting at Cabela's for their grand opening. It was slow at time about a great experince. It was also nice to have Jack Dennis come out on Sat and give us a hand and some instructional idea's. Again thank you Volunteers you make this club. dave robinson
I agree with Dennis. Thanks from me to Dave T and the Bobber for doing at least two stints and being good company on Thursday. Thursday was very slow as we had no signs directing patrons our way until after lunch. Sunday was a bit busier thanks to the M&M concession and picnic tables nearby. The outing gave me a chance to refine my instruction process, to simplify it and make it more effective. I was averaging about 5 minutes for a newby to take a rod and make a decent 15 foot cast. Most went away feeling that fly csting was not hard and kinda fun. This is something we could do at other venues for building club promotion and retailer relationships Sounds like Jack and Phil have already put their heads together for our January Seminar. Keep your eyes open for more info. It stands to be a great time. Edited August 8, 2011 by dave robinson
DennisS
Dave you are right about doing demo casting at other shows and outlets. I think we can get better advertizing at any of the locations and promote the sport as a whole not just one segment. I got the pleasure of being with both Jack & Phil and I can vouch for sure it's going to be a good time at our Jan. seminar. They both had the customers eating out of their hands. woolly
Sorry I had to miss out o the Cabela's opening. Developed sudden onset profound deafness in my left ear from an inner ear infection. Wobbling around like Bobber in the Red deer near his rock.. Can't drive for a few more days till anti Virals fix the infection.
