canadagrey Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 40 tyers including ones from Red Deer, Medicine Hat and Canmore tied 13 flies along with the Star of Fly Tying the Anglers Art, Leroy Hyatt. Many new techniques were learned along with the humor and wit of Leroy. Enjoyed by all. Photo of part of the group. Leroy and the Prez. Dave Murray Quote

Flashback Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 My wife, Karen, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with the Northern Lights/Trout Unlimited Edmonton Club and LeRoy. The day was relaxed, fun, and quite educational. We enjoyed the pace of the day and the friendly atmosphere of your group. We will be passing some of the patterns and tips along to our group here in Red Deer. Thanks for organizing a very pleasant day of tying. Bob P.S. DennisS Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Rainbow not to worry the Nymph never got done. He didn't know how to get past the tail. It was a fantastic show. It was a very fun and relaxing day. As every one said lots of tidbits to learn. Leroy even talked me into giving Deer hair another try. Leroy has a fantastic personally and it was a joy to visit and talk about our favourite topic. Thanks to everyone that showed up. You helped greatly in making the atmosphere of the day. vince Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Canadagrey & Rainbow Sorry boys but the pheasant tail nymph never did get finished. Half way through I asked myself when would I ever use this nymph and as I could not come up with an answer I stopped the tye, removed a half-done pheasant tail nymph and just enjoyed watching Leroy. Sure was a great day. Vince Quote
dipperdan Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 It's ok Vinny, we know you don,t like to go deep. It's hard when you fish that skinny water, get all caught up in the rocks , moss and twigs. You also try to lead us astray, by putting some flies in the trees, so we think there is a big hatch going on. Thanks for that, I'll have to restock my dry box by following you. Buddy Dan Quote
vince Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Dan For sure lots of flies are lost to the tree's but you know what...thats why we tye flies. If your not donating flies to tree's and not falling in from time to time then your not fishing...that's my storey and I'm sticking to it. You're more then welcome to follow me or I'll follow you...either way a good day will be had. Vince Quote
