I'm thinking of getting a pontoon boat. I have a float tube, but like the idea of something I could occasionally take on a river trip as well. I don't have a trailer, just a small SUV. Is it practical to have a pontoon boat that gets assembled/inflated at the lake? I think I'd be lucky to get 15-20 days a year (more fishing on small streams) , so I don't need an industrial strength unit.

Any suggestions?

If someone is looking to trade up, I'd consider buying a used one.

Hi, Ken,

I drive a Ford Focus, and have a Cimarron Pontoon I picked up for a good deal at Can. Tire, their display model. I carry it in an oversize bag ie: hockey bag, and put it together, inflate at the lakes. Once you put it together and take it down a few times, it doesn't take too long. Not much longer than my FishCat4 to inflate and get fishing. I've never tried it on a river, mostly because I fish on my own and it would be a long walk back to the car after going downstream....

Canadian Tire, and probably others, also carry one that packs up into a backpack.

Good luck,

Dan
