Bill Gouge
Did any body go??? WHERE ARE THE PICTURES??????? Hi Dan I went and it was a lot of fun. Got a wonderful wild blueberry pie among other things! Watched Vince eat several steaks, good ones at that. Well organized as usual and successful at separating me from my money in a painless fashion for a good cause. Kudos to all those who put it together and made it a success! vince
Bill I'm not sure what was more fun...me eating (which I enjoyed) or watching you part with your $$$$. All in all a great fun auction...I walked away with a few items and I want to thank Scratch right now for bidding up (I know what you were doing Scratch) the Orvis flask. I'm sure looking forward to a bit of Southern Comfort coming out of that beautiful little flask. I was looking forward to having my fish-pull ticket pulled so I could have walked away with a new Winston rod but it was just not to be (again). I think we did well and I know the people I talked to had a good time. Thanks to all who made this event happen and thanks to all who participated by attending and buying. VinceOh - I wasn't bidding up - that's why I upped it 15$.... I wanted the damn thing... I just wasn't willing to go too far beyond my price to get it and it was obvious that you weren't gonna let me take it. http://orvis.com/store/product_choice.asp?...p;feature_id=16 Nice piece either way.... couldn't have picked a nicer guy for it to go to. Except for that southern comfort thing. Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. And yes - it's still called 'dry fly' if you put floatant on a nymph. I outbid Scratch also on the Stainless Steel "Trout Unlimited Flask / Cigar Tube" combo.. fer only $35. Aye, when I saw this item at the Skip Morris show back in January.. I just had to have one.. cause my fishin buddy don't. I even just bought a mickey of the Captain's best spiced Rum to fill up my flask.. and a fine cuban to put inside it for tonight. Payback is a beotch eh Scratch! No matter.. I will bring you a straw.. cause I don't want yer cooties.... again. Oh yah, here is a nicer Flask than an "Orifice" model fer only $20. I would get it before buying anything from "Orifice", especially an item branded as such that even came with a funnel too. Just imagine how the Scotch & Five Alive mix might taste from it now. Blaaaaah. Yah.. "Southern Comfort" is really a codename for your latter drink of choice ain't it. Fess up! http://www.shoptu.org/details.php?table=acc&id=76 PS - Ditto, the steak was HAWESOME! vince
Scratch I, like you, had an upper limit on the flask but at the last moment I threw caution to the wind and went for it.....would I have gone higher...no, so I'm glad you didn't come back and up the bid again. I've got the flask sitting on my desk and later on tonight I'm going to clean the inside and fill the flask with some Southern Comfort. Your right...you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I do agree with you...floatant on a nymph makes it a dry fly....hey, this may be an avenue for me to really get into nymphing. Lance You poor poor soul...how can one even think of putting spiced rum into a flask....there truly is no accounting for taste. Some of us have it and some of us don't ....though I have to say that even I think spiced rum is better then scotch and 5 alive. That little unit you picked up is a cool unit...you get the best of both worlds...a fine cigar with a good swig or two....just enough to take the edge off. Now I also have to disagree on the flask...I think the Orvis flask is better looking...pictures of fish are cool but not as cool as my flask. With regards to Orvis (correct spelling) you'll find that a lot of their stuff is good but like all companies some of their stuff is not that good or over-priced...always do your research. See you both tonight. Vince

I guess. LOL! Lance You poor poor soul...how can one even think of putting spiced rum into a flask....there truly is no accounting for taste. Obviously, you've never enjoyed a Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 Box Press stream side then with yer buddies sip'in CM between puffs. We'll rectumfy that on Vince Creek this year. Maybe we'll even show you where this creek (or others) are in exchange. http://ranger-bob.net/?page_id=768 The funniest thing I EVER seen in my life was two dudes that were out wading and fishing waist deep in the middle of McLean Pond. They were all dressed to the nines in Orifice gear.. not evening knowing how to cast. We affectionately called them "Beavis & Butthead".. but anyways they were dressed fairily nice. PS - Rum and Cigars... go together.. like Peanut Butter & Jelly (true aficionado's know that). Scotch & OJ... uhm.. like Marmalade and Vegemite. So, I guess we can both agree.. to agree on that. PPS - And we ban all OJ & Scotch mixes.. especially Lagavulun (if one could call it a Scotch) at all our future Klaves. To whit.. there will not be one at Dolberg 5 this year.. announced by us.. anyways. Publicly... of course. PMS - Actually... hmm.. OJ in this stuff would be considered an improvement.
