Scratch Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 OOoooOOOohhhh... You mean I might get my foam flies before next seasons hoppers?
Doc Posted August 5, 2004 Author Posted August 5, 2004 Again, (not to beat a dead horse ) but... Flies 'N' Beer is this Monday August 9th. I hope to see some tyers out to support it. Wings & Beer are on special (very cheap ) and everything else is happy hour prices. There is no entry fee of any kind and if you don't feel like tying then just come down to chat and have a brew. Feel free to bring the wife as well *Note: If you are tying, bring a lamp (this is a must)
dave robinson Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 (edited) I'll try to break away from the home front also. Probably won't tie either. Burned out from too many clousers. I'll bring the laptop with photos of my recent trip. Edited August 9, 2004 by dave robinson
Tys Flies Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Thought I might come tonight, for my first Flies and Beer. Was wondering what I should bring. I cant seem to find the orignial post. I remember a power bar and lamp, being an option? Is a clamp vice ok? And what time does it start? Hope there is room for younger adults.
Doc Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 Younger adults meaning over 18? Yes, no prob. A lamp is a must! You'll also want a power bar (or extension cord) and if you got a base bring it. If a C-clamp is all you got then that will be fine. It starts at 7pm. See you there
Doc Posted August 20, 2004 Author Posted August 20, 2004 Please check post regarding Flies 'N' Beer and Phil Rowley tying demo here... new info for Flies 'N' Beer
Doc Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 Just a reminder that our second last Flies 'N' Beer will be this Monday September 13th at 7pm. This is a great time to tie up those fall Backswimmer patterns we'll be needing for the local lakes. All drinks are on special (happy hour) with very cheap prices on wings and beer Our last Flies 'N' Beer will be on October 18th with a Phil Rowley Tying Demonstration. You can view that info here... Scratch Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Sorry I didn't make it tonight... I was pretty sick on sunday - and today wasn't any better. With club meeting this week - and my wife in school - I just couldn't do both... Will catch you at the next for sure...
Scratch Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Strangely - I feel like I've been scolded by my mom... At the end of the day - I couldn't justify the evening - and I didn't go. I felt that this week - my attendance at the club meeting fit my home-life better. That's the consideration I use as a yardstick folks. Last three or four flies and beers - the beer was more important - and there were certain notable absences at those too - both members and executive... So. Is what it is.
Paulf Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 ....was there last night....enough said. With regular meetings and tying sessions starting up once again and perhaps maybe even with conflicting monday night football...folks are busy. But on that note, we have to support the next up and coming flies and beers featuring Phil Rowley. So lets make it work and have the best attendance ever. It would be nice if there could be a show of hands so to speak on who is attending this event. This is one event you dont want to miss out on. So come out and meet fellow tyers and fishers and enjoy a good night out. Paulf
DennisS Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Schratch you don't need to defend yourself in regards to making it out to any club function nor does any other member unless they have volunteed for that particular function. Contray to some peoples beliefs there are some thing more important in life than fly tying or fishing, not much mined you but there is. Espeacially home life. Just my 2 cents Doc I will see you on the Phil Rowley Night for sure unless something comes up. See you all Wed night Tight Lines Always Dennis S
Scratch Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 "Show up to win it..." Heheh.. kinda the description of a door prize. Indeed - neat to have a door prize for the effort - Might just pick up the DVD Phil put out - just to get it signed.... Hrm. It's only money right?
Doc Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 RB, got your e-mail. the banner looks great. We should start a new thread called Phil Rowley Tying Demo (or something like that) and link the banner to it. I e-mailed Michael Dell a while ago and appologised for the date but it was the only date that worked for Phil. I was kind of hoping that for a one time shot we could combine both the TU meeting and the Phil Rowley demo into one night but that would be Michael's call. On another note I'll check and see if Phil will have books and videos available at the show for purchase and maybe he would give up one autographed book for a free draw. I'll e-mail him today.
Doc Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 D00D! That would be so kewl.. and you like so have the space and venue for it! Would you be able to get both guests in during the allotted time? I'm sure we could work out a time thing with Michael but like I said it's his call I just feel bad that it had to be the same day as the 1st TU meeting. I hope he's not mad at me (sorry Mike ). As it stands now I'll be in at about 4pm and I think Phil is setting up at 6pm. I'll bring the waitress in for 6pm as well.
Doc Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 I just got an email back from Phil and he will supply an autographed copy of his book "Fly Patterns for Stillwater" so that we can make a free draw at the seminar for all who attend. He will also have his books and DVD's for sale at the show. Can we place this info on the locked thread please? Thanks,Doc
Doc Posted September 24, 2004 Author Posted September 24, 2004 You and me both buddy. I've never held a fly tying seminar before so keep in mind, I could use all the help I can get. I just want it to be a smooth and well presented seminar. Cheers!
Michael Dell Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 Doc, No, I'm not mad at you. I've just been very busy with personal business. I'm going to ask Hugh Norris if he can do his talk in November, and invite everyone to come see Phil. Take care. Michael
Scratch Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 Yep - got the DVD RB! Aside from some really irritating 'step 1, step 2' narration that doesn't really fit - it's a great disc. (I have other comments too - but I'll save them for a more appropriate time/place) Gotta get some food... long day.. getting longer. G
Doc Posted September 25, 2004 Author Posted September 25, 2004 No, I'm not mad at you. I've just been very busy with personal business. I'm going to ask Hugh Norris if he can do his talk in November, and invite everyone to come see Phil. Glad your not upset with me. Hope everything works out for you in your personal life. That would be great to combine the two Mike . If needed I can push the seminar back a half hour to say 7:30 and TU could meet from say 6:30 - 7:00. If more time is needed I think we could work it out someway. Just let me know as TU is also very important to me. Thanks for your understanding Michael. Cheers,Doc
Michael Dell Posted September 26, 2004 Posted September 26, 2004 Doc, No need to have a separate TUC meeting. We'll just call it a special program and enjoy. Michael
Doc Posted September 27, 2004 Author Posted September 27, 2004 Sounds good Michael. I'm so glad that things could be worked out, I was feeling pretty bad about booking Phil on this date.
Doc Posted September 28, 2004 Author Posted September 28, 2004 As RB has stated he will be bringing his Man Cave set-up . Scratch and Hepcat also said they may be able to bring a projection TV and pull down screen. Is this possible guys? I would put it right at the side bar (the bar beside us when we tie) if it is. Let me know please as the more big TV's we get the better.
Scratch Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Woah Pepper - I'll leave Jeff's comments to his own. We'll see if it's possible to borrow one for a night - but I'm not holdin my breath...
