SnoWolf
Have a good day folks. I'm busy throwin my accumulated pile of stuff out and a few other commitments that day as well. However, it looks like boy an me will be floatin around a lake somewhere close to home on sunday. Hope the backswimmers are on. I am wondering if anyone can help me out with a fly? I need one that looks very much like a trout fly but will not catch them no matter how hard you try. Maybe with this kind of fly on his line my boy will not be able to out fish me. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Sno
Paulf
...TRIP REPORT #1... ...here we arrive at our destination...after making our way down this cut line, we finally arrive at the little creek we were talking about...looks like the beavers in the area were busy as well......a little bit of spongy muskeg, but all in all, not that bad... Paulf
...had to take a picture of the dipper dude...he almost blended in with the background...we were both looking forward to exploring new waters...
Paulf
...this is the direction in which we decided to head, west it be... ...the water here is pretty shallow, we already managed to scare off all the waterfowl... ...we saw nothing rising and with the water being very clear, saw no signs of fish as well... ...so we ventured on... Paulf
...looking for signs of fish...we see plenty of minnows...looks promising...the banks were spongy, the first foot or so into the water was silty and then there were rocks and gravel... ...not wanting to disturb the water, we trudged onward along the shoreline and headed once again upstream... Paulf
...before going further...I took a picture from where we just came from...but these pictures just don't do it justice though... ...the sunlight sure plays havoc with the picture clarity...it is still a nice view...all you can hear is the birds and the insects...so peaceful and so quiet...nature wise... Paulf
...the creek now started looking like a creek...we are between the beaver dams now and the water now has little browns in them...the fish here are very skittish...we found it very hard not to scare them away... ...this is natures beauty at its best...the busy beavers...the clear skies...and not a breeze to be had... Paulf
...damn...fiddlesticks...Dan spooked them...so with me being on the other side, I spooked them back over to Dan... ...now after we were done scaring them half to death, there was no hope in blazes of catching these here fish... Paulf
...so with that episode behind us, we moved on further upstream...it doesn't look like much water, skinny looking water as a matter of fact(learned that term while fishing the crow with Terry and George)...lots of hiding places for fish though... ...we did manage to scare out a few more browns...definitely not my kind of fishing...I'm no good at stealth mode... Paulf
...once again, I turned around a snapped a picture of where we just came from...very pretty little creek...one can see all the possible places for the fish to be hiding... Paulf
...seeing how I forgot about taking a picture of this man made structure on the way upstream, I made sure that I took a photo of it on the way back to the truck...it has bee there for awhile, the one spanning support looks pretty weak... ...that's it for this story...on with our next venture...stayed tuned for part two of our trip... Paulf
...had to stop and take a picture of the first grayling of the day...a little thing of beauty...several more were caught after this picture was taken... I didn't have time to take my camera out at every fish caught, if I did, we would have not made it very far...fishing today has been the best fishing in a long time... Paulf
...here is a different angle of the same grayling...no wonder they call them the sail fish of the north...graceful in their own right...

Paulf
...once again, we are hooking whitefish...we could have stayed in this spot all day, but there was still plenty of water to explore...
Paulf
...this one took my offering of a different fly...a prince nymph...the fishing was so crazy, I think if I tied on a piece of belly button lint, it would have caught fish...belly button lint you say?...does that mean that one would be using bait?...
