James
What flies do you guys use for whitefish and more specifically to this time of year. What hatching right now?
Michael Dell
James, I use any sort of bead head nymphs for whitefish. This could be Pheasant Tails, Hare's Ear, Prince Nymphs, or even the famed Emmerson Nymph (or it's lesser known cousin the Emmerson Leech). I don't think there is any selectivity, you just have to get the nymph in front of the whitefish (i.e., deep) and let it swing up at the end of the drift (or in front of the fish). I fish these as the dropper on a hopper/dropper rig, or with a yarn strike indicator. I hope this helps. Michael
