I was just thinking...

Seeing that there is very little snow, so far, this year. What will be the relult of this winter? Will there be a greater or reduced chance winter kill? I would think that there would be a lesser chance of winter kill due to the fact that the weeds wouldnt die.... but then in that case could we expect very weedy lakes next year?

hmmm

Alot of grasshoppers <_<

I suspect we're gonna get a snow Jihad by March. Wait and see. What goes around... comes around.

In fact... I'll be so bold to predict that Feb 3-5 when we go to Calgary is gonna be colder then a Witches.... ta ta for now.

Nor do I Dennis - however, there is something else to be said for the current conditions.

Snow cover is the largest cause of oxygen deprivation in lakes - as oxygen transfer into the ice is apparently - almost (not quite) but almost as good as water.

Lack of sunlight typically causes the winter happy salad-death.

With crystal clear ice (like we have this winter) and minimal snow cover (like we have this winter) - we might just end up with a well-wintered set of lakes come spring... Do any of the biologists have any predictions so far? Mr. Spencer? ( Are you lurking? )

Well "they" are predicting snow for the beginning of Febuary.....

Heck "they" cant even predict the weather happing right now correctly....

But I do hope its more than the skiff we got today......

If we dont get anythis winter that is going to be hard on the water levels on the lakes this year....some are already suffering pretty bad...
