Also looks like i may have an extra evening and a day to do some fishing. Any one feel like sharing some favorite spots and tricks with me? High wood and a few others are pretty close and of course theres the Bow. Any help here or through pm's would be greatly welcomed. Thx Sno. Beaver Dam Flats, and the Kensington Bridge. Also, up near the hatchery by the Weir is fine in October. Use Stimulators. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Calgary,+AB&...13393&t=k&hl=en (My Old Home Waters in BF) http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Calgary,+AB&...13393&t=k&hl=en (Hatchery / Wier) http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Calgary,+AB&...13393&t=k&hl=en (Kensignton Area) Last time I took Roy Ramdeen to these spots.. he near peed himself. Nuff said!
SnoWolf
Is that Beaver Dam Flats as in Sherwood Hieghts up top from Ogden. I fished there a lot when I was a kid. Would be nice to go there and catch a big brown. Thx for the info Rb. U rock. Sno
RangerBob
Is that Beaver Dam Flats as in Sherwood Hieghts up top from Ogden. Yup, park at the top of the hill and walk down. Sucks coming back up the steep hill at night but worth it. If you want to pound the other side of the flats. If you are Driving north on the Deerfoot 500 watch for the train trestle bridge. There is a road that buzzes east along it towards the river. Fishing under the trestle sucks too.. so don't waste your time there.

RangerBob
I've indicated where to fish on this map, and road from Deerfoot to the bridge. Please, pass it along to everyone you know in Calgary (as if they didn't know already).
RangerBob
OBTW, why it's a "productive stretch" -- uhm the poo factory discharges here. Where all them delicious nutrients enter the river. Let me know how they taste eh?
RangerBob
For the Sheep River hot spot.. you'll have to Private Message me. =) Although, I wonder how that and the Highwood fared after the floods. Happy fishin!
RangerBob
Since I'm telling all... for the Weir. Park at the hatchery or across from the golf course where indicated. Big Browns be stacking up here soon.. and the Whitefish run will be on at the Weir here also soon. Dang.. I need to get back down here myself sometime in October! RangerBob
And.. "DOWNTOWN BROWNS" be here. Access is horrible it's too far to walk from the parking lot, or your office tower at lunch. Have fun "King of Kensington!" and barring that try Fish Creek park.. but I'll have to keep a few holes to myself (you understand don't yah). RangerBob
Forgot to mention Carburn Park. Used to be stocked with Trout but someone dumped some Pike and Perch into it. It's just a hop skip and a jump from Beaver Dam Flats and a hop across a bike path to the Bow River. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Calgary,+AB&...10131&t=k&hl=en Lake at bottom stocked, and Pike to be seen in the one above it also. You can also park underneath the Glenmore Trail Bridge at Deerfoot (the boat launch). Fish to be had here as well, especially whitefish in the run between the island on the upstream side and Burnco plant. SnoWolf
Hey So there was torential rain all day and all night on saturday so we just sat around and killed a bottle of rum or 2. Fished Beaverdam flats on sunday without much luck. Water was really high and full of all kinds of floaty stuff including a sofa or 2. Lots of fish jumpin around my hooks but I could not seem to convince them that it was food. Might have even gotten a bite or 2 but in the hungover an groggy state I was in I never noticed. Some hair of the dog and some warm sunshine mulling over sum childhood memories made for a nice day. Sno
