Scratch, I see the club has designated the NS as the meeting place on Wed. I'm assuming they wanna go to the Firehole that night. Shall we go try out the "Bighorn" instead that night?

That, or it's the "Stankhole?" which we haven't hit up in a while. You decide... Jeffy hasn't done it yet. ;) The pin is up for grabs!

I would guess that most would go to the "firehole" :devilbob:

as there's good parking, easy access and enough river to spread out on.

Given all the recent rain the storm outfall should be roaring

and the river level has probably come up a bit though. :boat:

As to the "stinkhole", ditto on the outfall water volume,

which is likely to induce severe olfactory distress. :barf:

Also, not much parking there.

"Bighorn"? That's new one on me.

I might be needing a fishing fix about then since I had none on vacation. :(

Also, I don't think I've ever been "pinned" so would like to try :box:

Can we meet somewhere before hand to decide location? :coffeetime:

But won't you be standing in my honeyhole then Dave?

Yes, yes it is. As for winning the "pin" there can only be one. That "contest" is only open to a select few Klansmembers. There is an "Animal House" ritual you must undergoe to be inducted.

Nah, your old honeyhole is too deep after the flood. :yak:

You mean drinking Lagavulin with you and Mike

doesn't count as an "animal house ritual"? :coffeetime::goodnight:

I didn't know Gnomes and Barbies drank single malts

I thought they went in for the "lighter" versions. :rangerbob:

If one didn't know better you would think from the above post from Lance that him and Scratch are trying to avoid fellow club members. You named it the firehole; so join us. This is one angler who can still use your expertise.

Not avoiding the club folks Hank - just the crowds. The Firehole is really a 3 or 4 max location - so when it's river night - it's a little elbow to elbow. Fortunately I've still managed to meet up with a few of the gang over the summer while out at the haunts.

The bighorn is just a few bends downstream of the firehole. We're still test fishing it - but as soon as we know the 'right spots' a few people will be blindfolded an taken for a ride.

Hoping to make it to the club on the 24th - lots of catching up to do with a bunch of folks - FlyAngler has been keeping us super busy for a few months now.

For those still learning the 'new firehole:

Exit STRAIGHT out from the path, and DOWNSTREAM no more than 50 feet for the best goldeyes (in and at the outside of the seam). Slow retreive with large beadhead buggers 75 feet downstream in the slow water (inside the seam) is best for Walleye.

The changes at that hole are significant after the flood.

Some of the old high spots are now holes, and some of the holes are filled in.

Just like the bow, red deer, or any other post flood river - we just need to re-learn it.

There are fish there though....

What he said! Besides, you know if we found a more productive stretch of river we'd share it with yah. The "Bighorn" actually has room for about 10 anglers... hence the name I gave it, and uhm somehwat because of the local terrain features.

Nice stretch of water Scratch spotted. When the time comes, we'll share it. IN the meantime we want to see if it's as fishable as it looks.

PS - Hank, as I recall on Sundance you went downstream.. and we went upstream. You coulda joined us there too. Who's ignoring whom? :D

PPS - The "Stankhole" (for those not in the know).. uhm.. park by Capilano Bridge on the South Side end (there is a turnoff there). Fish right underneath and downstream of the bridge... be prepared for gag reflex from sewer outflow. Known to hold a Pike and Walleye from time to time.

Sorry guys, should have known there was a legitimate reason. As far as the Sundance was concerned, you'all were out of sight by the time I got there, so I had no way of knowing which way you went. Hope we can all bow out honorably.

Hank

Dave was ever further up stream (ran away from us). We almost had to give him up for bear bait.

No problemos Hank. AND.. if'n the rain don't stop soon... I ain't going no place but to bed early. Perhaps after I get a few more FlyAngler articles done.

Ugh, busy week indeed.

Take me to the River! :whootwhoo:

Aye, this is about as much as we're willing to share for now. Indeed.. it's as fishable as it looks. Okay, so we lied about how many could fish here. For club outings.. I think you could darn near accommodate the entire club along it's banks at low water. But.. for now, we'll still just keep it at at a couple. All will be revealed, in good time.
