Aspenpups Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Hi All, Aspen and I have returned to the south lands from our whirl wind tour of rainy Alberta. I just wanted to tell you all how nice it was to meet you and what a great time we had. My swap flies are on the way to Wally (I promise!) and I hope he will get them to somebody from the NLFT to hand out to the calve attendees. I was pretty embarrassed to realize I had left them home on my tying desk. I am not exactly sure how many of the attendees of the clave are on this forum, but if you know of someone who is not would Lance or Scratch please email them this note? I also am not sure why or how but AJ's and my swap flies came in a fly box. I don't believe anyone else's did. So whomever hooked us up with the fly boxes it was extremely appreciated. I do not believe it was until later that we realized that we ended up with this special treat. Lance and/or Scratch I assume it was you that tried to write Flyangler.CA in the dust on my canopy. Well you misspelled it and for the rest of the trip I had to tell people at gas stations I have no idea what "Fly Anger CA July 1st" meant. It was pretty funny and it did make a lot more sense when I saw the announcement about your new page. The flyangler.ca is great looking by the way. Anyhow it was a real pleasure to meet all of you. You sure made us feel welcome. Aspen has started attending AA meetings to deal with her tequila addiction. (I was proud of her turning her nose up at the scotch.) I hope by next year that she is clean and sober. If you would have us again we are going to try to attend next year. Our best, Aspen & Don PS, I am looking forward to the CD of the pictures from the clave. Quote
Michael Dell Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Don and Aspen (and AJ), We were glad you could come up and join us. Even though the fishing was poor, at best, the company was great. I have a list of clave attendees so I can help Wally with distributing your flies. Besides it is a good excuse to go to Wally World and try out my new pontoon boat. Brian and I decided you and AJ should get the bonus flyboxes. You are welcome. Take care. Michael p.s. If you keep sniffing the Lag, sooner or later you'll like the taste. Quote
Scratch Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Guys - it was fantastic to have all 3 of you at the klave. My wife is thrilled to see another happy Lab on the water - so if you get the chance - you'll have to send me acronym list about the labs from the campfire.. I still laugh. The photos are available at Flickr.com (lots there so far - wally needs to send his - but we'll get that sorted. ( http://www.flickr.com/groups/albertaklave2005/ ) Hope the Bear and his new friends have made it safely to WA also! As for FlyAnger.ca - well - RB has been educated. I bought him a dictionary also. Hope to see you at the site! Cheers! Quote

Michael Dell Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 RB, I thought about pontoon boats a lot, and ended up with the PAC 800 that I wanted from the beginning. I bought it on Wednesday and took it out to Muir for a spin. Then I fished Muir and Star from Thursday to Sunday. I even caught a few (but very few) fish. Doc took a photo of me sitting in the boat at Muir and he was threatening to post it, but I haven't seen it yet. New car? That was two years ago. I know people who would have 2 or 3 new cars in that time. Take care. Michael Quote
