albertabowhunter Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I'm not sure if I agree with the free fishing weekend. What happens if someone gets caught poaching on a free weekend, how are they fined? obviously it really doesnt do much by suspending there ability to buy a licence for a pereiod of time. Or, what about those who may be under a suspension. Are they allowed to fish on these weekends? Just curious. Quote

Scratch Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 The regulations are the same on the free licence weekend - only the licence requirement is revoked. poachin is poachin regardless of the licence. Quote

I understand that, but how does that defer anyone who only fishes once a year, say that weekend? I think they should offer a licence for that weekend at no cost. But make the person who wishes to fish go get it therefor they get a copy of the regs as well. That way they can also track the person just as a regular licence purchaser. just a thought. Quote
Scratch Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Interesting - but the effort and expense are probably not worth the effort. I suppose it doesn't really matter. Given the number of F&W officers available on the water - chances are - every weekend is a free weekend... I do like the idea though - perhaps that should be recommended to the gov. Even if quashed - at least they'll have had an option... Quote
