OBTW.. speaking of real estate... loving this new (to me anyways) Sony Multiscan G500. Even if I am going crosseyed sitting this close to it... the headaches will go away. :)

I almost got all the settings dialed in. Now I can read a dozen more posts at a time. B)

Time to declare your scotch for the Klave! I'm bringing a bottle of Cardhu to honour Marc D. and his ugly shoes. Like the Travel Gnome, we'll keep posing until he shows up again one day.

Only 1 more day for some of us (Mike and Jim will be starting the Klave early at Wallys on Thursday). Myself, packing now and I'll be bugging out early on Friday with the goal of trying to get to Wally's by about noon. Hep, are you staying aboard the Bob Sled? Lemme know.

PS - I have prints framed for the Raffle, and my Swap flys are done!

My Home PC poo'ed itself last night (won't boot anymore - posted one to many times I guess).. so I may or may not be able to get any news out about the Klave henceforth till it's fixed.

Suffice to say... see you there on Friday about noon.

Aren't you glad we we didn't hold the Klave is Southern Alberta this year!

Yes - Hep is bunkin with you lance.

Will be bringing a 3/4 bottle of Dalwhinnie.. Can't afford to pick up more - and given the amount I typically drink - I'd be on the floor anyway, and I drive a gas guzzler - see the price of gas! ARRGH.

(Dalwhinnie is a 15 yr Highland)

One of the siz 'Classic Matls' carefully selected to rest represent each of the main whisky producing regions of Scotland. they embrace the full diversity of regional tastes and styles.

Cragganmore - Talisker - Glenkinchie - Dalwhinnie - Oban -Lagavulin

"Spiorad - Sitheil" - Spirit and Peace.

Got canopy poles, water container rest o camp gear... I'm actually feeling like I'm prepared.

That means I'll forget rods or something.

DHL (loomis) just showed up with our Klave T-shirts. Greg and Jeff your cost is... $23 each with landed cost... for the 2-XXL Ashen Gray. I also have one canary yellow XL for signing and raffle. Bev says that one hurts the eyes it's so bright... but will keep Bob easily within sight when he goes tree-hugging. So, I'll bring them with me on the weekend and we can settle up there.

Cheers!

For better, or worse... I'm baaack up now. I dusted out the spiders that took up residence on the CPU fan and evicted a small sqwerl,

okay a dust bunny about the size of one. :o

So, the Klave t-shirts are awesome! Got my bottle of Cardhu on the way home... you'll have to attend to see them both.

ONLY 1 more day.. must go pack now. Hoooray!

PS - Odds on Al showing up are about 12 to 1 right now. Even greater for Hep_Cat.

I'm out for this weekend.... If the river looked fishable I'd definately go, but not gonna travel that far to fish a lake, this weekend anyway. Plus, now I gotta go on a course on Friday ending at 5:00. Then I gotta come home, load the camper on the truck... trailer the pt boat, pack, get food. to much to do.... Next time... Any plans for a near future klave? let me know....

Sorry again... I'll save my flies for the next one.... Just to let you know, they where my version of the brooks stonefly nymph tied upside down with a black tungsten bead head. Oh by the way if you were at the fishing center looking for the large tungsten bead heads..blame me I bought them all for the swap.... and no, the north side fishing hole doesnt have any either :P

Have fun guys... and good luck fishing...

A blast from the past (1996).. only our second Klave! More NEW memories soon! Ahh.. Bernice.. (is she dead yet?)

"Saturday evening all assembled at Wally's site. Unfortunately food

preparation caused me to miss a few tales. Maybe next time I'll stick

to easy cheese sandwiches and sodas. It was a good evening at the

fire though, and apparently Berneice, She-Wolf of the SS took

Lance's advice because she let us alone to enjoy our out-of-spec

fire. I don't remember Lance's exact words but they were something

like, "You really need to get paid." Whatever he said, it sure did

the trick. We had terrific antipasto courtesy of Joy, Al spun some

yarns, Wally brought a few treats for the tyers, and it only ended

when the kids were called home around 3.

Back at camp the remaining crew gathered at Site Stangowitz where we

were joined by Barry White. More stories and good cheer. Barry was in

for a couple days and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wished we

could have stayed on as well. Next year will likely be a

week-long fishstravaganza.

And.... the first (The Origins Of Ranger Bob revealed).

"Lance, er Ranger Bob, was the provider of all the fires at

night, if fact it became obvious that the only reason Ranger Bob gets

up in the morning is so he can set fire to something at night! He burned

half the deadfall in Montana and would have got the other half if he

could have stayed longer. He was a joy to fish with and enjoys catching

one almost as much as I do.

PS, Pat and Tim had great t-shirts made for us, with a flyfisher

catching (ok Pat,) a Cutthroat on the front, with the inscription

MT.FF@.I over it. I wouldn't take anything for mine. "

[ And that was the first one (tradition from MT to AB], so it seemed fitting for a Tee on the 10th! ]

Ahh yes.. fishing is only secondary.

How high was the river? and did you end up floating it?

How high was the river?  and did you end up floating it?

What's that? How did it taste? Well, The official Klave beer "Old Scratch" was a solid 5 indeed... and Mikeys Scotch a -32,768 (as anticipated). Like sucking on a bottle of Iodine. I couldn't escape the taste of LAVAGUT for two days. It was so bad even the dogs refused it.

Sorry yah missed out... perhaps next year. Remember, come be part of the company, or ELSE be part of the conversation.

Neither old Scratch was too bad this weekend.

As to Old Lavagut, yes it's an acquired taste. :o

Somewhere between The Frog and Ardbarf. ;)

Definitely one of the stronger Islays.

After tasting it, the Glenfiddich 18 tasted like water.

On it's own the Glenfiddich 18 was quite nice.

Mild and sweet, with a hint of heather.

Can't say as though I liked the Cardu either.

It had peat and smoke, without the butterscotch

or sweet finish of the Island malts.

Of the Islays, Highland park was probaly the most accesable

for those not used to strong single malts,

with the Bruichladdich the choice of seasoned veterans there.
