The originator I believe was Gary Carlson who was a friend of Russels. Gary fished quite often out at Hasse Lake and came up with the 52 Buick back in 1974 or 1975. Here are the materials list provided by Dennis: The old are Royal Wulff (parachute tyed to Dennisize it) Hook: dry fly 6-20, Thread: 8/0 red or white, Nano 18/0 Body: Peacock herl, 1 strand red floss, Wing: deer or elk hair, or white poly Hackle: grizzly brown. 52 Buick Hook: 3x nymph hook 6-14 Thread: black Tail: mallard flank dyed woodduck Rib: Gold tinsel Body: olive dubbing, Throat: mallard flank dyed woodduck Thorax: Peacock herl Bead optional The new are: Collin Minnow Hook: Jig hook 12 or bigger your option Thread: 6/0-black or white Tail: Senyo's olive laser dubbing or any long fiber dubbing, Body: Senyo's fusion fishmas dubbing, Bead your choice of size and color Really Easy Hopper Hook: 2x-3x long dry fly 12-4 Thread: 8/0 black or white Rib: fire orange 3/0 thread Body: foam cylinder 5 to 7mm Hackle: furnace to match hook size, Thorax: dubbing your choice along with color.
