I recently acquired an old shaving brush, that was made sometime in the 1950's.
I'm trying to figure out what fly pattern is in the handle. Any ideas?

fyi - Trout Unlimited in the US has a very active twitter account: http://twitter.com/troutunlimited - and over 1700 followers
Hi Vince - haven't you been getting the Fly Fusion mag - along with the Currents insert?
-
Sorry to resurrect this - but Twitter would also be an excellent means of promoting the January Fly Tying events - as well as casting clinics. Posts could be automated as weekly meeting reminders, and also to promote new posts to the web site, promote the videos that were recently added to youtube(great job btw!), and so on...

Great story Dennis! - sounds like a blast! One of these days I'll have to see if I can't tag along... My Jeep has a winch that I don't get a chance to use often ;^)
Sorry I don't have any stories myself - I have only been out one afternoon this season! Next year will be different for sure!
-
...the one main important message I got out of this story, besides a sore gut from laughing so hard, is that it is always best to fish with a buddy...talk to you later...
That way you could have pictures in your book too!

Congrats!

No problem Vince!
At the bottom of the main forum page, there's a section "Forthcoming Calendar Events within the next 14 days" - easily overlooked I think

Thanks buddy...now, how is that you found the info and I did not.

What about RB's suggestion in the small fly swap thread? ;^) The Procrastinator ... which reminds me... you get your flies done yet? lol
Thanks guys, I knew I could count on you. Trouser Trout made me laugh, but my better half has already vetoed all "Dick" permutations. That's what came of "milelong". Don't get me wrong; sometimes I will veto her vetoes, but only on the important stuff. For example:
"But Rick, do you really NEED another fishing rod?"
"Come on now, we're well beyond the realm of NEED here."
or
"But Rick, you've already gone fishing twice this week!"
"Don't worry, winter will be here soon enough."

Being unable to make it out to the meeting last Wednesday it was great being able to watch the twitvid - nice job Lance!
Now, this club to the south - I really - I mean REALLY like this aspect of their meeting nights :^)
Gonna have to swing by Sherbrooke and see if they stock it now!
-
good job on the presentation!
I think that I just have to apply some of how I like my coffee to my fly selections ;^)
Black and happy!

I would like to check out some lakes between Prince George and Prince Rupert.
Any suggestions/recommendations?

I follow Scratch's shopping approach - and as result, haven't had to venture far from home at all to get what I need/want. The SS Fishing Hole has been more than accommodating with regards to special orders (they brought in a magnifying lens for my vise/vice?). I'm not really big into shopping - I will research first on the net to get an idea of the price of something, but after that, once I get into a shop and find what I'm after, I buy it - provided its not ridiculously overpriced based on my net research. If I can't find what I'm after in town, I go online. Never been in, or bought from a Calgary shop - but I'm still a newb ;^)
I never go to WEM, but I do occasionally make it into the north side FH - not often, perhaps once or twice in a year. May not have always found what I wanted, but service has always been good.
The guys at the Fishing Centre were totally helpful when I made my big step into fly-fishing after that weekend a few years back at Swan fishing with Shan (and a pile of borrowed equipment from Ian). I don't make it in there very often anymore though - probably more due to its location than anything else.
I do look forward to checking out the new Wholesale Sports on the south side...where abouts exactly is it?

This thread reminds me of a Monty Python skit...er, No it doesn't
What was LeRoy's saying about opinions?

What a great one day seminar. Had a lot of fun watching and listening to Leroy and have to say he's one of the good guys.
