  1. I am looking for a recipe of a pattern called the Mission. It was tied to commemorate 6 of our fallen in Afaganistan. A recipe and photo would be great if anyone knows of this fly pattern. I will also be tying a pattern to represent the colours of my sons regiment when he graduates and would like to put it into a shadow box for him. But I will do an Atlantic , a Streamer and a Wet Fly in the same colour scheme when the time comes.
  2. Southside store has goose shoulders and #4 3399. As nice as it would be to tie on the black hooks. I think for the sake of expense and convenience we stick with the 3399 #4. IMHO.
  3. http://www.google.com/imgres?q=wdoc+spratley&hl=en&tbo=d&biw=2360&bih=1219&tbm=isch&tbnid=T8yVvmUhm7sl6M:&imgrefurl=http://www.flytyingbug.com/threads/traditional-streamer-fly-swap.1488/&docid=rsuBT9bHzRs1WM&imgurl=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b112/Garhan/Fishing%252520Tying%252520Hunting/fad16aec.jpg&w=1024&h=594&ei=AfsLUY34H8_miwL024DQDQ&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:76,s:0,i:317&iact=rc&dur=4973&sig=108527274339974106171&page=2&tbnh=171&tbnw=295&start=60&ndsp=83&tx=104&ty=87 I think this might work. If you click the link it should take you to where I originally posted this fly image. This is what can be used in Google Image search and bring it back to this forum as well. But I believe this is an admin thing that needs to be setup. The first time after I posted this fly on another forum and did a image search for Doc Spratley it took me to the forum. I was just stupified and amazed., We should consider looking at something like this here. It may very well bring on more and new forum members. Lets see.
  4. A major reason I went to a Nor-Vise was because my shoulders can get pretty darn sore after a while when I tie loads of flies. The rotary design has reduced that shoulder pain considerably.
  5. Size 4 for display purposes and material availability. Goose shoulder instead of dyed Duck Quills. You know how easy it is to find quality Duck Quills here in Alberta, let alone a matched set.
  6. Sounds good. I just bought 3399 #4 at WSS on the southside. Take a poll on the hook colour and I will go with that. As for the club, it is open to everyone as mentioned before, club member or not.
  7. I like the idea as well of three feature tiers, but I would like to see some up and coming local talent from Alberta as side venues. It would then allow for some of use to sit in on those side venues if we have heard or are not interested in the main features programs. Allows a minor option and helps spawn new up and coming talent that also give them exposure.
  8. he is both lake and stream angler. But he is a world class flytyer and respected throughout the UK, Europe and North America.
  9. Davie McPhail and Jim McLenan, Hans Willeman, Andy Weiss, Barry White.
  10. I watched a fellow on Friday dub a fly without using thread. He made a dubbing rope with his rotary vice from just the dubbing. Spun the dubbing into a rope and then on to the fly. Very cool. Oh it was Norm Norlander.
  11. Ok I will take you off Dave. Enjy the singing as I am sure you will. Maybe another time youll be able to jump in
  12. I am OK with this. Unless the majority want to stick with the 3399 or 3906's. We chould maybe put in an order for 100 or so and split them amongst all the tiers in here for the Wetfly Shadow Box. What does everyone think? Who has them?
  13. Jim can you crop it the picture so as to get it in closer to that Snowy.
  14. Now that he is teamed with Peiroway and is thier fly designer. He might be over more often visiting his son at Innisfail and doing buisness at the same time. I will ask him again. Davie and I spoke about this two months ago. He is interested but it just wasn't practical at the time.
  15. Maybe we should Boobie a 52 Buick and see what happens. I think it would be a killer.
  16. ...man I wish I could have attended this show...just to meet up with Davie McPhail would make it worth the trip down...out of curiosity...was Davie tying flies while at the show?... yes he was and that was the best part of it all.
  17. Not the one I am thinking of. Similar in some ways, but this isnt it. I do like this pattern no the less.
  18. Well I spent from eleven until 5 at the Fly Expo today. Five hours of which was spent with Davie McPhail and Norm Norlander. It was a great time with little traffic until much later in the afternoon. I am on a natural high. Now I have a few flies to put into a new shadow box from Davie. Who ever is going down. Davie is in the Pieroway Booth beside the cast pond and Norm is in Fish Tales booth that is backing on to the front of the pond. Pieroway is introducing there new line of Atlantic Salmon fly patterns that will be sold and distributed in Canada. Davie is the fly designer of these flies and now is part of the Pieroway Team. Check out a cup new sites on U Tube: Atlanticfliesco and on Facebook: Atlantic Flies and www.atlanticflies.com
  19. Dan and Tony have been added to the list. Tony if you could or have a scanned copy of Plate 1 from Bergman that would be great, especially if it can be posted here on this thread.
  20. Maybe if you get a row you dont really like you could possibly swap with someone for a favour or a barter of some type....lol.
  21. Again the adventure Aaron, ask and people will help you. Nothing to be intimidated about. It is a new learning curve thats all. What would go so wrong that it would affect life, living, fishing or the world. Absolutely nothing.
  22. I like your suggestions and I am good with this as mentioned above.
  23. es I was looking at that website Michael. But I mistakenly thought they were all Bergmans. So your right, thats not what I am really looking for. If there are photos of his plates with the fly names. they should be posted here and then we can look at the big picture and divide it up as needed to accomplish the first leg of this journey. Your thoughts?
