Your still one up on me Dennis, so far this year 3 outings, 0 fish. Of course practical fishing time (when the wind wasn't blowing hard and the kids weren't rowing the boat) was all of about 20 minutes of the 5 hours I actually got to spend on the water. I fear the fish are in cahoots with the weather and spend all day mocking my flies and my casting.

Thankyou both for the help last night... it's amazing how much simpler things are when you see them done in person instead of a still frame grab and instructions. Dennis ... my memory has failed me, what was the name of the company/website you ordered those pink/purple beads from ?

Look forward to to learning from you both... with luck hackle will arrive before the meeting so I have something other then a handfull of size 10s.

Not to be a pain but any chance we can get the videos from last week meeting posted ? I'd like to attempt the ant but my memory isn't up to the task of remembering how they were tied. and I'm not up to the point of figuring it out from the cell phone photos of the finished product.

Won't make the Seminar as I've got prior commitments but thanks for the invite. Hopefully I'll be able to come out next week as long as the rest of the household gets better.

Good job with the videos... Very helpful. Now if I can just get healthy again and get the kids after school schedule set up properly I should be able to get myself out to these meetings this year and remember how to actually tie flies. My last fly was back in 1992 ish and the wife got me setup with a new tying kit in november and I haven't had a chance to do more then figure out what's in it. ttyl... Mica

This is why you should always have a nice hard protective case around your fly rod... This evening I was rushing out the door and caught my 5wt fly rod in the door as I closed it on the way out. It Looked okay up until I finished tying the boat up and decided that since I was at the lake that it was worth attempting a few casts between wind gusts. Casting didn't work so well against the wind but I did discover that the shaft had been crushed and is now split just above the cork when I tried to load the rod. Is there anyone or any method to repair this or am I going to need to replace the whole rod. ( this poor rod didn't even get a chance to catch anything ) Any advice is appreciated. is there any way to tell what weight a line is after having removed it from the box?
