  1. Hey guys, been a while. Too long! I was thinking about coming out to a meeting sometime. Still same place, same time?
  2. I agree with you, Garhan, well put. But it seems we were outvoted. Lol, how's that SAFFL forum coming?
  3. Haha! Dan's the man to beat for post of the year! Thanks for the input, guys.
  4. Way to go, Jim! Can't wait to see the fly! I really missed being there this weekend.
  5. I, well we, were asked for some fishing tips on Rock Lake. The mandate of our club is to foster the sport. To me, the idea is the more I can help someone have a good time, the better the chances that we'll gain another ally for our natural resources. I've suffered the consequences before; arriving at a favourite spot to find it crowded. I still think it's the right thing to do. This forum could allow many people to benefit from our knowledge, but at the same time, I don't want to outrage any friends of mine. Thoughts?
  6. Hi Paul! I actually just spoke to Randy at The Fishin' Hole, and I was going to email you tonight. I'm the fellow. But this has made me wonder, where do the NLFT forum regulars stand on the free sharing of such information? As in, posting those details right here. I know a lot of people consider that taboo, but it seems to me like the right thing to do. I'd like to run a poll first, if you don't mind. Post or PM, I'll tell you everything I know long before the ice breaks up.
  7. We're you planning to compete, Roy? It sounds like my team from last year won't be able to make it, so I'm considering putting together one of my own. Not that I would necessarily be the captain.
  8. Yeah, I was pretty sure you were joking, Ken. For my part, I figure all the fish pull tickets I've bought over the years might be close to double the retail value of this rod, plus all the raffle tickets, donations to auctions, and my time. I promise you, when I'm catching fish on my new Winston next year, it'll be guilt free. I won't even feel bad when the boys give me a hard time about putting a cheapo reel on it.
  9. Ken asked a good question, and I forgot one thing. To adjust my nymphing rig to shallower water, I'd switch my anchor to a smaller, lighter, and/or bushier fly.
  10. You know, I think if I tally up every fish pull I've taken part in, I still got that rod at about a 90% discount. And yes, I'm still smiling.
  11. Thanks for playing. Try again!
  12. Not me. This summer I saw one on a ladies lap I had figured at eight pounds, just before it kicked back into the water. And just last week a friend caught and weighed a six pounder.
  13. The fish pull rod is a Winston Boron 8-1/2', 3wt. Believe it or not, I haven't even taken it out of the tube yet.
  14. I definitely notice it running smoother and faster. Thanks.
