Nov. And Dec. Meetings

All meetings start at 7:00pm at Queen Mary Park Community Hall on 117St and 108 Ave. Everyone welcome. Coffee and timbits provided.

 

 Nov 7th - No Meeting - Hall closed for repainting and floor refinishing.

 

Nov 14th - Fishing For Gold Tanya Rushcall, an Aquatic Invasive Species Biologist with Alberta Environment and Parks will be sharing some of her knowledge and experience with the amount of gold in Alberta ponds and lakes, why it's a problem and how she pans it out. Maybe too, how to cook it! This will be followed by:

                - 40th Anniversary - a short commemoration of the establishment of a Chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada in Edmonton in 1978. There may well be a few treats and a gift with the Chapter logo for those in attendance (and others later until they're all gone). Nov 21st -  Kreelex  - Dennis Southwick will introduce us to a tying material that he found effective this year in some of his flies. This a flashy material that has a metallic like finish and a little softer consistency than flashabou. 

 

Nov 28th - Fishing the Bow - Maxwell Robinson, an Outfitter and Head Guide, will present a session on "the seasons of the Bow, flies/hatches we target primarily, gear we use and what to expect from a days guided trip." Max is  also one of the pioneers of flyfishing the Bow with a spey rod

 

Dec 5th - Business and Some Tying - reports from the executive, discussion of recommended changes to the Constitution that will be voted on at the AGM on Jan 16th., hopefully your first chance to buy a ticket on this year's bamboo rod donated by Don Andersen.

This will be followed by a Roundtable discussion on the topic that if you were limited to one fly for all your fishing what would it be and why? If time permits there may be chance to add a second fly!

 

Dec 12th - Pizza Night and a Fly Swap - year-end wind up party with pizza and pop.  If you want to join in the Christmas fly swap bring half a dozen flies to pass around and trade
