Paulf
...George and I headed out to Muir tonight, ice won't be long in leaving us soon...picture taken from dock looking south...

Paulf
...now is it just me or is the water level down quite a bit this year, if I can recall, the rocks in this picture were in the water last year, the ones closest to the water that is...looks almost to be down by a foot or so... Paulf
...took a little walk out to the channel, this is what we saw...if it gets windy in the next couple of days, ice should be completely gone...
Paulf
...and looking back towards the dock, it is looking better all the time...walking back to the truck, there were a few fish rising at the abundant caddis flies swarming about...tempting, tempting... Paulf
...we then took a little spin to Hasse Lake, the water level here has dropped considerably, the ice is a little further away from break-up...looks like lots and lots of rain is required for these lakes... Paulf
...and one more picture of Hasse from the old dock location, which is no longer there...
Paulf
...George and I were also at Star, the ice is very grey and brittle looking, wont be long now here, a little bit of wind is required though...

Skipper
The last time I fished Muir was on a rainy day, early June, in 1960. I remember that day well because it was the day I got a ‘Dear John’ phone call from my girlfriend. She told me to go fly a kite; I went fishing instead. The fish were far more cooperative than my girlfriend. From the sounds of things here, I think I’ll drop by on opening day not to fish, but to witness the event. I think it will be a hoot. dave robinson
Skipper: You will miss opening day if you don't show up at 12:01 with the other fanatics. By noon, 12 hours later, I expect it to resemble a large bowl of cherrios again. Then again, May 1 is a Monday, so the less fanatical may be at work. SanJuanWorm
I'll be there. Except i'll be the guy with the night vision goggles and the pellet/dart gun with a scope, hiding in the bushes.

vince
Boys Only a few more days left. Can't wait till April 30th at midnight. Now the only question is which fly do I use. Hmmm, maybe a helping hand from the winner of last years first fish caught. From shore or do we stay out a bit longer and do the belly boat routine. Ah, life has too many ???? Vince Last years first fish was hooked from shore at the launch on a leech pattern by Darren - but he lost it. The first caught was also on a brown bugger from the dock. I'd plan on some waders and a long net for shore fishing - the dock is going to be pretty crowded.
