Back from fishing the pond this morning for a couple of hours, it's ice free. Apparently, it's also fish free too.

Give it another week for turnover to be complete, about 2 foot visibility right now. A few others pounding it with a flyrod and spin gear reported no luck either.

The back swimmers were quite abundant, even scraped a few off my windshield.

Rick:

The pond is on the south west corner of Beaumont.

Coming from Nisku on 625 , turn north into the subdivision on 60 street just before you get to the traffic lights of the main road (814) into Beaumont.

One post on another board said that when he went ice fishing at Beaumont Pond in late winter he saw a "lot of dead fish" on the video camera. Beaumont Pond usually overwinters Rainbows quite well due to the depths on the north end of the pond.

I have not heard any other reports of a possible winter kill. We should know soon.
