  1. ...yes, it was a fantastic weekend...I was one of the crazies that went home and tied a small fly, an even dozen to be exact, size 24 because I could not find the size 20's... ...many new and interesting topics to absorb...now to incorporate them into this years fish outings...Phil and Ed did a fantastic job in their presentations, worth every penny and then some...
  2. Brendan...I purchased a peak vise quite a few years ago and love it. The main reason I bought it was because of my tying realistics. Now I don't have to remove the fly from the vise to view it from different angles. Now that I have it, I find I use it for many applications, wrapping ribbing around the body is so much easier, same goes when palmering hackle. You will not go wrong with getting a rotary. As for tying faster, I did not get a rotary vise for that reason and as for quality, just taking your time learning the techniques will eventually help you in tying quality flies, and with that in mind, you will find you will tie flies faster.
  3. ...wow...great story...for not getting out too often, you sure made the best of it...the scenery and backwoods country is something else, one can never get enough...looks and sounds like a terrific outing to me and thanks for sharing...
  4. ...here is Dan and George fishing the honey hole. George is at the head of the pool and if you look real close, you can see Dan at the far left side of the pool near the big tree and logs beside the creek...
  5. ...this might be an area that one would want to do snorkeling in...the school of fish was huge that we witnessed...guessing, I would have to say at least a hundred fish if not more...when the sun was just right, the bottom of the pool came to life with nothing but fish...first I have ever witnessed this...took some pictures, hope that they turn out...have not had a chance to look at them yet...
  6. ...won't be making this clave...already have other commitments...one more spot to fish on Dismal before the hard water sets in...too many places to fish and not enough time...enjoy yourselves and have a good time...
  7. ...see you at Timmies Saturday morning...

  17. ...a great day...were they all pit-tagged? There seems to be bigger fish this year. Good to see more fish being caught and great to see big smiles. Looks like a fantastic day was had and thanks for sharing your report.
  18. ...nice pictures and great report...looks like the water levels were more than favorable for fishing...nice looking water, very clear for Rat Creek...thanks for sharing your trip reports...Kudos to Ken, Randy, Terry, Martin, Seb and Craig for venturing out...
  19. ...here is our route... Dismal Creek June 28, 2014-Route Taken.pdf
  20. at the confluence where Dismal flows into the Pembina, I took a little break and started to look under some rocks to see what sort of bug life is present...here are some of the little critters...
  21. ...after fishing this area, we decided to head down to where dismal flows into the Pembina, area DC-01...the river changed again, last year where the deep pool was located in the Pembina is now no longer as you can see by Dan wading in that area...here are some pictures of this area...
  22. ...after seeing how high the water was and off-colored, we decided not to go all the way to area DC-13, it would have been very difficult to navigate and we would have not been able to fish the honey hole due to the higher level of water......here are some pictures from Saturday...
